Built in 1553, located in old Manali.
Hidimba, a Rakshas became Bhima’s wife after he defeated them in Manali during Pandava’s exile period.
They both later gave birth to Gatothkach who played a prime role in Pandavas victory over Kauravas in Mahabharat war.
Reaching this temple is a leasure stroll from the mall road. Better to walk alongside river Beas fir that special feeling.
The temple is made of wood and is decorated with animal skulls and horns giving a demonic feeling once you visit this place.
Inside you will see a small cave where Hidimba used to perform meditation. The look and feel of the temple is quite different as compared to other temples.
There’s a huge compound outside with a preserved garden area. A short 100m walk will bring you to Gatothkach sthal, a small temple under a tree. The tree is decorated with animal horns and trishuls.
It’s quite a different feel to visit both these places
