OFF GRID!!

Updated: Jan 14, 2022

What really happens to us during the course of our lives?

As kids we tend to listen to what our parents and teachers have to say, gradually becoming who they are until being poked by our peers and then we become what the peers are. That is roughly the first 18-20 years of our lives, going about our lives line a machine day in day out, year by year.

We develop joys and sorrows which really aren't ours but that is what is "supposed"to be, that is what the society approves.

There's college, love, friendship, bookish knowledge sitting quietly in the four concrete walls artificially cooled. Zombie teachers, zombie students - Apocalypse?! Totally, but not externally, but within us.

Everyone strives for a seat in so and so corporate firms knowing unknowingly that it is another spider web and institutes prepare them for pre-placements. Stay poised, look presentable, look him in the eye, firm handshake common, be confident. Like it's gonna suddenly come from within sitting there soulless, not knowing where to go from there.

A new day, suited up for the induction in a new corporate. New team, new people, judging eyes! Try to fit in kid! Develop some rapport!Listen! Do not question, don't apply your brains because they aren't developed anyways. Your brains have been fed with knowledge rather than letting it seek for knowledge by what resonates with the mind and the body.

"Samay Ka Chakka!" - "The Wheel Of Time"! House, car, spouse and kids with the spouse. Their diapers, their education, and where are you lost? You virility? Your sense of self?

Blame games, rate race, old age and death. What a waste!

Scary?! Yes! But it doesn't have to be that way.

A day comes when your mind and your body get exposed to "life". Where the days start off slow with your eyes waking up to hazy greens and mild sun. A little clear vision and you could witness the beauty of giant rockys capped with snow wearing a crown of clouds standing tall behind the lush greens.

The trails aren't concrete clean as in the crowded cities because cars aren't welcome. The food isn't rotten and frozen because it is grown by the locals happily for their own consumption, free of corrupt. The people don't have marks on their foreheads because they never really had to fold the skin between their brows.

You're forced to wear and carry only the most essential items for survival so your fancy leather sling bag is out. No one judges you, people are simple, people are free, free of subjectivity, free of pollution, free of screaming news anchors. They just live off the land, face natural calamities, learn to stay strong, learn to safeguard their loved ones. All they desire is food and shelter.

After this day, you're not the same. There's a major kick to your heart. It now beats differently. You go back to your city with a heavy heart to that same old concrete chamber, but this time you feel empty. Your heart is filled with the purity of earth, the cold of the mountains, the sound of walking on scree and the warmth of the sand.

You do get lost during a client meeting or while having team lunch don't you? Fake friends start making you feel weird. Your circle becomes very small, usually confined to just your family and a close friend or sometimes just you!

You do play the same song that you listened to while riding from Khardungla to Pangong. You start to feel proud of dirty worn out shoes knowing they have been a part of something meaningful.

Fake preaching, same old childhood shit doesn't resonate with you anymore, reality is different now. You are now aware that living as per society's norms will get you nowhere and will only bring a regretful death which is the most painful thing anyone could ever imagine.

It's a transformation! Good or Bad? No judgement. But, maybe there's enough fuel in your caravan to get to that lake for the night's stay. Mind you, there is no cellular network available there.
