The Deprived Human – On why we are always in a “Yes Sir” mode

Each morning, the roads get jammed, trains get packed, office boys dance. Each morning one has a choice – either to dream or to die, a slow death by succumbing to pressures – financially, health-wise, job related and the most overlooked and most stressful – social.

Passing out from schools, your dreams must have been limited to getting into a reputed college and then into a reputed institute for a job or maybe start a business and then in this process which is mechanically created by the so called social normals, where do you get lost?

Where’s your song, that sketch, that dream of yours to fly in a hot air balloon or maybe deep dive into the Pacific ocean?

Your beliefs are doubted since childhood, convincing you to follow the herd, each monkey pulling the other down to it’s level. This leads to inaction towards the skills you like to develop. You’d rather invest in the stock market and discuss on the outcome with others and not pay for that swimming class because you have to “fit in”, can’t be alone, it’s a dark and scary place which will force you to reflect within to see the bullshitting you’ve been practicing since childhood and to look beyond your mask is again a horror film because of the so called “flaws” highlighted by the peers, the media, Instagram show up !

You’d rather sit at home and chill over the weekend thinking you need to relax but that’s what everyone does, it’s “Approved!”

Shattered confidence, high on ego because you have peers alongside you watching your back to throw stones at the confident badass lot who take care of themselves.

But one fine morning when you’ve had enough, or when someone extraordinary actually challenges you, makes you believe in yourself for who you are, gives you the freedom to go do whatever you want even for an hour, you may develop a power, a superpower in today’s times – the power to say “No!”.

Two magic letters, but once said, they will unload you with the heavy weight of the social pressure, will clarify your thoughts and relax you more than any Neflix and chill would.

Say “No” or your well-being, for your soul, for the world that’s waiting for your magic to be unveiled because by always being in the “Yes” mode 24/7 you lose value, you are always taken for granted because you are always available, and you don’t have boundaries. Ever seen people always available to work no matter what time of the day, what day of the year? What will they earn – a few extra $, a position in a company – such a shame.

Say Yes only for the things that spark your soul, things you know that are going to help you grow in life, things not influenced by peers or social norms because we all know that there are not many people operating in our day to day lives with balls and ovaries of steel commanding respect, Be One!!

Slowly you will feel, light headed, unburdened, unapologetic, respected. And because you are a person of value, you will be respected for your skills, your work, for who you are as opposed to constant doubting that was ingrained in you, the “kiss my ass” club and most importantly the world will thank you for it.
